Edu Saathi (Empowering marginalized children for a brighter future)
Our Edu Saathi project aims to empower children living in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) by enhancing their academic and non-academic abilities. We provide support to address their social and emotional challenges and integrate them into mainstream society. Since 2020, over 1,000 students have attended our online and physical classes.
Over 50 students receive scholarships through the project.
FunLingua (Empowering Children through Innovative Language Training)
Fun Lingua, an innovative project by Ether India, has made a significant impact on children’s English language learning journey. This unique initiative encourages children to learn English through a mixture of Malayalam and English, creating a fun and engaging experience. The project aims to build self-confidence among the participating children, nurturing their linguistic abilities and fostering a love for language learning.
The Fun Lingua project offers a unique approach to English language learning for children in Child Care Institutions, slums, blind schools, and tribal settlements. By empowering children to improve their English language skills, we enable them to communicate effectively and unlock new opportunities.
Kuttikoottam
Kuttikoottam is a transformative project dedicated to imparting essential life skills to children in childcare institutions. Our inaugural life skills training session was successfully conducted at Namaste Wings to Fly in Vellanad, Trivandrum. This initiative aims to equip children with the necessary tools to navigate life confidently and independently, fostering their personal growth and preparing them for a brighter future. Through Kuttikoottam, we are committed to nurturing the potential of every child, ensuring they have the skills and support needed to thrive.
Nirbhayam
In collaboration with the Kerala Mahila Samakhya Society, Ether India organized a day training program at Nirbhaya Homes situated in Poojappura, Venjaramoodu, Alapuzha, and Kottayam. These shelter homes, established by the Women and Child Development Department, serve as safe homes for individuals affected by sexual abuse and human trafficking.
The training focused on essential life skills, encompassing self-awareness, interpersonal relationships, coping with emotions and stress, and empathy. It was a transformative session empowering the residents with valuable tools to navigate challenges and foster personal growth.
Ether India’s initiatives continue to empower those in need, providing essential tools to navigate life’s challenges and rebuild their futures with hope and strength.
Click and Blink with CCI
The Click and Blink project aims to discover and nurture the artistic potential of children in childcare institutions who have a keen interest in photography.
Through this initiative, children learn various aspects of photography, familiarize themselves with cameras, and develop a keen interest in photography. The project attracted 97 students for the first level of online photography sessions. Among them, 49 attended a 3-day residential camp for the second level.
During the three-day camp, the students delved into various aspects of photography, honing their skills and discovering new horizons. The camp curriculum was thoughtfully structured to cover essential theory classes on the first day. followed by hands-on experience with indoor and outdoor photography on the second day. The young photographers also received guidance on basic editing techniques on the third day, empowering them to transform their captured moments into captivating visual narratives.
HomeFrames
The Home Frames project, in collaboration with the Kerala Women and Child Development Department’s Thiruvananthapuram District Child Care Unit, aims to empower children living in childcare institutions by nurturing their talents in acting, writing, directing, and camera handling. Through a carefully planned three-phase approach, we set out to make a mark in the world of performing arts. A total of 34 students attended a 5-day residential community theatre workshop.
Code and Conquer
Code and Conquer is a project of Ether India, which aims to equip the coding skills of children in Children’s Homes and Orphanages. We could conduct projects at Trivandrum Children’s Homes with the support of GTECH Technopark, and at Eranakulam with the support of adesso India. Through this program, they have gained valuable skills in basic coding sessions and Python, unlocking boundless opportunities for their bright tomorrows.
Trivandrum
This joint venture between Ether India, GTECH Technopark, and District Child Protection Unit Trivandrum seeks to inspire young minds and open doors to a brighter future through technology. The sessions conducted by IT experts from “KuttiCoders” and Faya Technology Pvt Ltd Technopark, were a resounding success.
35 enthusiastic participants from 8 esteemed child care institutions, including Kaliveedu, Namaste Wings to Fly (Boys & Girls), Women and Children’s Home Poojappura and Venjaramoodu, Sneha’s Home, Hindu Mahila Mandiram Poojappura, and Govt Children’s Home Poojappura, embarked on a transformative journey.
Ernakulam
With the invaluable support of adesso India, Ether India successfully conducted transformative sessions at the Government Children’s Home for Girls in Kakkanad, Ernakulam. Adesso, a renowned German-based company, specializes in optimizing core business processes for organizations. Their expertise lies in delivering cutting-edge solutions that streamline operations and significantly elevate productivity. Through this collaboration, we were able to empower young girls, providing them with the skills and confidence needed to envision and build a brighter future. This partnership underscores our commitment to making a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable children, fostering their growth and integration into society.
Inter-house Youth Festival
During the challenging lockdown period, Ether India took an inspiring initiative to restore joy and reduce mental stress among children in childcare institutions. Inter-house Youth Festival (IHYF) offered a platform for young talents to showcase their skills in 19 diverse categories, ranging from classical dance to drawing. From 16 to 23 January 2021, we conducted an exhilarating online art competition.
The IHYF was inaugurated with great enthusiasm by the director of the Women and Child Development Department, TV Anupama IAS, through an online conference on Zoom App on 16.01.2021 at 10 am. The renowned director Mr. Manu Asokan, famous for the Malayalam movie “Uyare”, graced the event as a chief guest.
Thiruvananthapuram District Sub-collector, Madhavikutty IAS presented the much-deserved trophies and certificates to the winners. Acknowledging their outstanding contribution to the youth fest.
Health and Hygiene
In a collaborative effort, Give India, sanitary napkin manufacturers P & G, and Ether India came together to organize an impactful online awareness program at 7 child care institutions in the Thiruvananthapuram district. The program aimed to educate and empower adolescent girls about menstruation, health, and hygiene.
The online awareness program was a significant step towards breaking the barriers of silence and taboo surrounding menstruation. Through interactive sessions, the young girls were educated about menstrual hygiene, health practices, and the importance of proper care during menstruation.
